When Abroad Installation
This installation aims to raise awareness of the exclusion of international students on Centre College’s campus through an installation art piece. Given the lack of campus support for international students, many of them struggle with balancing their ethnicity and American-ness. The question most of them face is whether they should compromise their ethnicity to fit in or not compromise it and be excluded from the campus social scene. Is assimilation into American culture necessary for people to feel a sense of belonging on this campus? A series of interactive readymade objects, furniture, sculpture and video installations investigate these questions.
